Ed was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School (TN) and attended Lincoln Memorial University (Harrogate, TN) before earning his medical degree from the University of Tennessee.
He served our nation honorably in the U.S. Army, from 1963 to 1965, as a Battalion Surgeon at Fort Hood, TX and the Arlington, VA base. After his Army service, he began his residency in Radiology at John Gaston Hospital, Memphis, TN. In 1969, he moved to Lexington with Associates in Radiology and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital, the VA Medical Center, and the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Ed was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, an avid tennis player, enjoyed reading, fishing, golfing, classical music and traveling. He cherished his time with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and time spent traveling to Israel and the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and 9 grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Debbie (Henry) Kelsey, Eddie (Courtney) Hightower and Diane (Tim) Dreffer and grandchildren, Caroline, Henry, and Rachel Kelsey, Crawford, Ben, and Elizabeth Hightower, Madeline, Max, and Mitch Dreffer and his sister Janet Hightower (Bob) Upchurch.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 2nd at Milward-Man O' War: Visitation 12pm-2pm, Funeral at 2pm. Burial with military honors will follow at Lexington Cemetery.
