OBITUARY
Hazel Bennett Burrup, 74, 787 Willard, died Thursday evening, Oct 5, at her home following an extended illness. She was born May 17, 1915, Plain City, Utah, a daughter of Ralph Edmond and Mary Grace Richardson Bennett. Her family moved to Virginia in Idaho when she was a child, and she attended school there.

She married Leslie John Burrup July 31, 1935 in the Logan Utah Temple. He died April 28, 1973. After her marriage, she moved with her husband to Grant Ward just east of Downey, where they leased a farm. A few years later they moved back to Virginia, where they bought a farm and operated it until May 1960 when they moved to Pocatello.

Mr. Burrup worked with Pacific Fruit Express locally.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various positions including teacher, secretary and president of Primary, counselor, teacher, speech, dance and drama director in the MIA, visiting teacher, counselor and member of the stake board in the Relief Society. At the time of her death she was serving as a name extraction worker.

Her hobbies included embroidery, crocheting, sewing, quilting, reading, singing, writing and collecting poetry, and working in her yard.

Survivors include one son, Mont L. Burrup, Rockville, MD; four daughters, Mrs. Blaine (DeAnn) Ragland, Marshall, AR, Mrs. Tbeil (JoAnn) Kunz and Mrs. Kenneth (Lee) Nelson, both of Pocatello, and Hope Haymore, Livermore, CA; five sisters, Mrs. Wes (Ruby) Murray and Zelma Bailey, both of Ogden, UT; Mrs. Lynn (Grace) Parris, Blackfoot; Mrs. George (Caherine) Drysdale, Mesa, AZ, and Mrs. Don (Fay) Wheelwright, Clearfield, UT; three brothers, Clair and Blaine Bennett, both of Ogden, and Carl Bennett, Kingman, AZ, 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons, three grandchildren and one brother.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at the Pocatello 15th ward chapel, 1440 Lakeview Drive, with Bishop Robert Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 9:00 p.m. at Manning Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Downey Cemetery.
