Harry H. House, 75, a prominent Corona resident for many years, died suddenly of a heart attack October 26, in Hong Kong while on a tour of the Orient with his wife, Mrs. Bertha House. They left Long Beach on board the S. S. Statendam October 6, for a cruise to the orient and were due to return November 25. Mrs. House will return to her home this week by plane.
House was born in Riverside on January 2, 1889, and attended schools there. He later graduated from the University of California at Berkley with a degree in Mining Engineering.
He was employed in the cement industry in Utah and later was with the Riverside Cement Co. While there, He married the former Bertha Davison.
House came to Corona as an employee of the United Chemical Co., and in April, 1920, was employed as a chemist by the Lemon Exchange Products Co. (later known as the Lemon Products Division of Sunkist Growers). He later became chief chemist and in 1943 was named plant superintendent, serving in that capacity until his retirement on December 31, 1953.
House was a member of the First Baptist church of Corona, Temescal Masonic Lodge No. 314, the San Bernardino Scottish Rite Consistory and Al Malaikah Temple of the Shrine in Los Angeles.
He was an avid fisherman, and spent considerable time at his cottage on Balboa Island while engaged in fishing.
He is survived by sons Gordon House of Murrieta and William House of Long Beach; daughter Pat Jameson of Corona; and eight grandchildren.
