Grant Griffiths Williams, age 78 of Spanish Fork, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 1996 at Mountain View Hospital.
He was born September 9, 1917 in Tucker Utah, a son of William Williams and Hannah Powell Williams. He married for time and eternity Hope Manwaring, June 5, 1941 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Grant was educated in the Spanish Fork public schools. After graduation he attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he received a B.S. Degree in Range and Forest Management. Grant was employed by the US Forest Service as a district Ranger and Forest supervisor's staff member for range, wildlife and watershed relationships Grant is a veteran having served in the US Army during World War II, where he attained the rank of Sgt. He was active in scouting and in the Lions Club of Panguitch, Utah.
Grant was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as a high priests, as a member of the bishopric and the stake presidency. He was a friend, exemplar, and benefactor of numerous young people.
Survivors include his wife, Hope, Spanish Fork, and one son: Nelson (Marsha) Williams of Sandy; and three grandchildren; two brothers, Allen B. Williams and David Clerk williams both of Spanish Fork, two sisters, Grace E. Jacobsen, Salt Lake City; and Hannah (Andras) Furesz, Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers, and his parents.
Funeral Services will be Monday, february 12, 1996 at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork 12th Ward Chapel, 310 East Center St., Spanish Fork. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 187 So. Main St., Spanish Fork, Sunday 6-8 p.m. or at the church on Monday morning from 10-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Tucker Cemetery at a later date.
