On June 12, 1920, 5-year-old Loretta was visiting a popcorn wagon on Eddy Street with her 3-year-old brother Leo, just a short walk from their home. As they were leaving the food cart, a car horn sounded, and the children bolted in opposite directions. Loretta found herself in the path of the car, and was hit and killed.
