Audie Juanita Yarbrough Carter of Amarillo died in Arlington August 26, 2002. She was 80 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Carter was born in Collingsworth County, along with her twin sister, Audrey Vanita, to Earl H. and Mabel Peters Yarbrough on August 11, 1922. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1940 and was married to W .A. "Buck" Carter August 22, 1946. They made their home in Amarillo where they attended Polk Street Methodist Church. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Suzanna Wesley Class. Mrs. Carter was known as a faithful wife, a wonderful mother, a gifted seamstress and was creative in many areas. She was preceded in death by her twin in 1987 and her husband in 1992.

The Carters had four children: Sylvia Carter Smith of Arlington,W.A. "Bill" Carter of Richardson, Ronald Aaron Carter of Germany and Cynthia Carter Barber of Amarillo. Survivors also include herchildren by marriage, Barbara Carter Noland of Midland and JeromeClancy Carter of Abilene. Also she is survived by her sister, Exa Cudd of Wellington, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Audrey Y. Johnsen, 64, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Monday, June 15, 1987, in Amarillo where she had lived for about a year. Mrs. Johnsen was the daughter of Earl and Mabel Yarbrough. Mrs. Johnsen was born in and grew up in the Shinnery community and graduated from Wellington High School in 1940. She attended Bethany Peniel College,
now Southern Nazarene University, Bethany, OK. She had a banking career extending a number of years. This began when she was employed as a teller of First State Bank, Dodson. Later she worked for First State Bank and Trust, Co., Hollis, and at an Amarillo bank for several years. She also worked in Dalhart. She and her husband, the late Robert L. Johnsen, were active in real estate development in
Albuquerque and she continued to work in the business after his death
in January, 1970. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Albuquerque and Four Hills Country Club. Mrs. Johnson was a member of one of the earliest families to settle in Collingsworth County, living in the eastern part of the county.
