Mary Aasen
Born: Sat., Nov. 3, 1934
Died: Sat., Jan. 23, 2021

Mary Margaret Aasen, 86, went home to her Lord and Savior on 1/23/2021. Mary passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on 11/03/1934 to Henry Lester Pingleton and Mary Ellen Fults Pingleton in Claramore, Oklahoma. At the tender age of 11 months, Mary lost her mother. When she was 18 months old, her family moved to Coquille, Oregon where she spent her early years, graduating from Coquille High School in 1952. During her high school years she was a drum majorette and sang in the church choir. After graduation she took a job as a telephone operator in Coquille.

In 1953 Mary met and married Gerald Lee "Jerry" Aasen. They spent the first 2 years of their marriage in Anchorage, Alaska at Fort Richardson Army Base. While in Anchorage, Mary worked for the Civil Aeronautics Association and their first daughter Theresa Ann was born. At that time Anchorage was still a territory and Theresa was born in a Quonset Hut hospital, something Mary fondly remembered.

In 1955 the family moved back to Myrtle Point, Oregon where Linda Lee, Gary Martin and Gregory Allen were born. Several years later Mary took a job with McKay’s Market in Myrtle Point and stayed with the company for 23 years.

Mary is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gerald (Jerry) Aasen; children, Theresa (Kim)Daniels, Linda (Tom) Campanella, Gary (Paulette) Aasen and Greg Aasen; grandchildren, Ryan Daniels, Alyssa Daniels Jeremy Campanella, Michael Campanella, Steven Campanella, Aaron Aasen, Andrew Aasen, Adam Aasen, Cody Aasen and Brogan Aasen; 24 great-grandchildren; brother Tom (Darlene) Pingleton, sister-in- laws Grace Pingleton, Arlene Morgan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary enjoyed the simple things in life; family, friends, a good cup of coffee, baking, reading, camping and hiking. She will be dearly missed by all the family and friends she has made over the past 86 years.
