Miles was a stray dog found in April 2010 by a friend. He joined our family on May 5, 2010 at 2 years old. For the next 10 1/2 years, he was our faithful companion. He was unbelievably strong willed and stubborn, but quickly settled into his role as protector of everything. He liked to herd other dogs at the dog park, laid in wait for the mail carrier to bark at the door, and was suspicious of children and most other dogs.

He remained aloof with most other beings, but quickly adopted us as his family. He loved chewing on bones, squeaky toys, playing tug, treat time, and following his humans everywhere. Miles would signal his desire to go upstairs to sleep by bringing us his most prized toy, but he almost always refused to go to bed until at least one human was ready to join him.

Miles got to visit the ocean, and took a few vacations to Vermont with us. He loved car rides, especially when there were a big truck to bark at. Trail walks were pure enjoyment, and in his later years we took many short, slow spins at our local parks.

We said goodbye to him on January 25, 2021 in the afternoon in the comfort of our home. We'll miss him forever.
