Ira Ross Inman
Sherman - Ira Ross Inman of Sherman was 99 years old when he passed from this life to his heavenly home on January 8th, 2021 at the Pecan Point Assisted Living Facility.
He was born to Charles Nelson Inman and Rosetta (Garrett) Inman on August 12th, 1921.
Ira Inman proudly served our country in 1942 and continued until the end of World War II. He loved his country.
After the war, he worked at Temco, and Chance Vaught making airplanes. Ira Inman had a real passion for wood working, he later became a cabinet maker and built houses. His wife and him built seven houses themselves. He also could build anything that his wife dreamed up from wooden lawn decorations to furniture. He was a carpenter by trade for over 40 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Inman were very devoted to their faith and their church, Grayson Bible Baptist Church. They both loved their church, family and spreading the gospel. Ira Inman served as a deacon for many years and later retired as an honorary Deacon.
Ira and his wife, Thelma, loved to travel and were very socially active. They were part of the Joy Club, Happy Sam's, Texoma Sam's, Lake Texoma Sam's, Rainbow Iris Society, and the D.A.V. Post 54 just to name a few. They traveled in their 5th wheel camper to many places in the United States, seeing all the states except North Dakota. They also traveled internationally quite a few times including to the Holy Land in Israel. Their favorite place that they traveled to was Alaska. They had traveled to Alaska multiple times with their camper. Ira would laugh and say, "Thelma always likes to see over the next hill."
He is survived by his wife Thelma (Brisco) Inman who he married February 28th, 1942 and shared 78 wonderful years together.
Survived by his daughter Shirley Jane (Inman) Fortin and her husband Bernard Jean-Paul Fortin and their children James Michael Fortin, Micheline Antoinette (Fortin) Harbaugh and husband Robert Harbaugh, Bernard Jean-Paul Fortin Jr., and Christine Harding.
Also survived by his son Ira Eugene Inman and his wife Ilona Erika (Buttner) Inman, and their children Natasha Elaine (Inman) Runyan and husband Joshua Runyan, and Sabrina Renee Inman.
Ira Inman is also survived by his younger brother Vernon Inman and his wife Annette Inman and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Inman had 12 great grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Nelson and Rosetta (Garrett) Inman, siblings Gertrude and husband Ashley Miles, Leslie, and wife Ruby (Binion) Inman, Lloyd and Vida (Bassil) Inman.
Ira Inman was very loved and will be missed greatly, however he is now home with God in peace.

Family night will be held at Dannel Funeral Home, 302 S. Walnut Street, Sherman, Texas on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Grayson Bible Baptist Church located at 4400 US-82, Sherman, Texas, Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Dr. Eddy Johnson and Rev. Roy Webster officiating.
Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas.
