Mr. Shaffer proudly served his country in the United States Army-Air Force.
Prior to his retirement, he had a long career as an Electronics Technician Leader at RCA.
He enjoyed oil painting, wood carving, family history, archery, and gardening.
Surviving are his daughters, Phyllis (Michael) Balaschak, of Whitehall, Brenda "Tiny" (Vincent E.) Celento, of Eighty-Four; brother, Thomas Shaffer, of Houston; sister, Dorothy Seese, of Upper Middletown; grandchildren, Danyelle (Andrew) Burilla, Justin (Amy) Celento, and Brad (Hadar Glazer) Celento; 9 great-grandchildren, Vinny, Rylin, Jamie, Justin Jr., Jayden, Jace, Toby, Ella, and Cooper; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Olive Shaffer, who died November 26, 2003; his brothers, John, Frank, James, Charles, and Walter Shaffer.
