Marjorie Smith McVay, 78, died on Monday (Feb. 27, 2012) in Hazel Crest, after a several months illness.
Mrs. McVay was born on July 25, 1933, in Liberty. She was the fifth of nine children of Frank L. and Ruth Wiewel Smith of Liberty.
She was a graduate of Liberty High School and a former Miss Liberty. In 1955, she moved to Chicago after marrying John H. McVay. She worked various retail positions, most recently with Walmart in Quincy and in Orland Hills.
Mrs. McVay is survived by two daughters, Janet McVay of 16505 Terry Lane, Oak Forest, IL 60452, and Nancy Beletti and her husband, James, of Crossville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Lisa and Michael Bond; two sisters, Rosalie Blentlinger of Quincy and Carlene Atkinson of Morton Grove; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; two sisters, Pauline Schindler and Joan Haley; and four brothers, Merle, Clarence, Leo and Jerry Smith.
