A longtime advertising executive in her native Chicago, she was vice president of Lillienfeld & Co. and later was vice president of Marstellar Company. Retiring from her industry in the early 1970s, she took up acting which became her passion.

She was a member of Actors Equity and also of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). She also belonged to the Lincoln Park Players, Old Town Players, the Court Theatre, Playwright's Center and Victory Gardens. Perhaps she is best remembered as 'Grandma Donnelly' in the John Hughes 1985 film, "Weird Science."

She passed away at the former Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in the Bronzeville section of Chicago, and was survived by two siblings. On October 21, 1990, visitation was at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home with mass being held at Holy Name Cathedral.
