Mr. Norby was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister Pearl Masterson, and his beloved wife Jean Shirley Hansberger Norby with whom he was married for fifty three years. He is survived by his sister, his four children, and ten grandchildren.
During his lifetime, he lived in Starbuck and Minneapolis, MN, Jamestown, ND, Memphis, TN, Duncan, OK, Richmond, VA, Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, Durham and Winston-Salem, NC. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1944 immediately following his graduation from high school and was trained as a B-17 tail gunner in the service of his country. After his honorable discharge, he attended and graduated from Augsburg College, Minneapolis, MN. He met his wife, Jean, while attending college. Mr. Norby worked as a sales manager for Watkins Products for almost 20 years, and then in Regional and Corporate Management for Ram Golf Corporation. He enjoyed golf, working in his yard, and traveling with his wife including trips to Norway, Israel, and to Australia aboard a freighter.
He has been a baptized and redeemed child of God all his life. He was baptized on March 9, 1926 and confirmed in the faith on October 13, 1940, both at Minnewaska Lutheran Church, Starbuck, MN. His strong Christian faith has guided him throughout his life and he has enjoyed active involvement in the congregations in which he has been a member, including service as a Sunday School Superintendent and as Elder. In Winston-Salem, he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and also attended Fountain of Life Lutheran Church.
