Tabor City - Charlie V. Blackburn, 64, died at his home, 2007 Brandon Road, Wilmington, Tuesday afternoon after an extended illness. Prior to moving to Wilmington, he had been a farmer of the Finklea section of Horry County, SC. He was the son of the late Charles and Nancy Powell Blackburn of Horry County.

The body will remain at Lewis Funeral Home in Tabor City until the time of the funeral, the hour which will be announced later. The services will be held at the Loris SC Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Carter officiating.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Balzoria Grainger Blackburn; five daughters, Mrs. J.K. Rogers of Loris, SC, Mrs. Homer Small and Mrs. Leo Cox of Vallejo, CA, Mrs. Liston King of Wilmington, and Jo Ann Blackburn of the home; seven sons, Guy Blackburn of the Army, Clio, Gene, Jack, Bill, and C.V. Blackburn all of Wilmington, and Paul Blackburn with the Armed Forces in the South Pacific; four brothers, D.L. Blackburn of Hawthorne, FL, D.C. Blackburn of Jacksonville, FL, J.F. Blackburn of Stark, FL, O.L. Blackburn of Loris, SC, and two sisters, Mrs. Will Springs and Mrs. Lyde Boyd, both of Loris, SC.
