Jody Stephan Clay (Snake) was born February 14, 1961, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Fred Clay and Marjorie Mae Mack Weathers. His sister, Sherry J. Weathers and brother, George Weathers also preceded him in death.

He attended and graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduation, He served in the United States Army for four years as a Combat Engineer and received an honorable discharge.

Jody was young when his family moved from Lexington to Indianapolis, where his entire family became united with the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor David Lee's leadership. When Jody was young he loved professional wrestling and always talked about being a professional wrestler. He even changed his name to Shawn Clay, the professional wrestler. He was nice and kind and had compassion for children.

Jody was employed at the Meridian Street United Methodist Church for 35 years, where he provided Custodial Care. He was a faithful employee serving the church and its members in any way possible until his health began to fail. He was entrusted with keeping and maintaining the church and its facilities. He truly enjoyed working for the Meridian Street United Methodist Church. It was not just his job, but they became his family as well.

Everyone who knew Jody knew that he had a big heart and will go above and beyond to support or serve you if he ever came in contact with you. Jody was caring and had a heart for helping people. No matter what the circumstance was going on with you, Jody would do anything to help; his compassion for others never waivered.

One thing Jody loved to do was to bowl. He would talk about how he had a mean hook and how many strikes we would get off that hook.

Jody loved his nieces and nephews very dearly. From throwing parties and buying gifts, he loved spending time with them. No matter who he came in contact with, you will hear something about them.

Jody Stephan Clay (Snake) departed this life on Friday, December 18, 2021, in IU Methodist Hospital at 9:00 p.m.

He leaves to cherish his memories three brothers Rev: Rondell Weathers (Georgia), Sherman Weathers, Roger Weathers (Sherry), eight nieces, four nephews, one great-niece, and five great-nephews. A host of church family and special friends and other relatives.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; they rod, and thy staff comfort me.”

Psalm 23:4
