Donald Aaron DeWitt, 72, died May 20 1997, of a heart attack at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

Donald was born to Aaron and Irene DeWitt on April 22, 1925 in Dewey, Oklahoma. He was the first of five children. He is survived by three brothers; Les, Richard, Dale and one sister, Stella Belger. When he was ten they moved to Colorado Springs.

At age 17, he talked his father into signing so he could join the navy. While stationed in California where he would later settle, he met Lillian LeVelle Smith. They married July 10, 1945 and were together until her death, September 23, 1976.

While they were married they had five children, Paula, Donna, Dan, Dave and Sandi along with their spouses Loyd, Sam, Debbie, Kathy and Mike.

He was also cherished and loved by his 15 grandchildren Lorrie (Giley), Matthew, Cherise, Ruthi (Jason), Angie, Ian, Joe, Kimberly, Anthon, Courtney, Darren, Kendall, Allison, Amy and Emily.

He was also loved and known as "Great" by his two little great-grandchildren Sean and Samantha.

Donald lived in Riverside for 42 years before moving to Sun City in 1993. He was an assistant superintendent with the Mira Loma post office. He retired in 1982.
