She was born on October 16, 1957 in Canonsburg to Herman R. Helay and the late Lillian R. Drake Helay.
Laura graduated from Canon-McMillan High School in 1975. She was also a graduate from Penn Commercial Business College in 1978 and then attended W&J College.
Ms. Helay was a lifelong member of the SNPJ 138 of Strabane.
She was employed for over 20 years at St. Clair Hospital as an EEG Technician as well as Washington Hospital and Canonsburg Hospital.
During her career in the medical field, she was also a Tumor Registrar for the State of Pennsylvania, Cardiac Lab Tech, CPR and First Aid Instructor, Smoking Cessation Facilitator and Safe Sitter Instructor.
Laura was a lifelong member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church and Choir and traveled to St. Croix and Haiti for Medical Missions.
She enjoyed country music and was a Country Dance Instructor for local Country Dance Associations and traveled to Kentucky to dance on a popular country TV show with the Boots and Garters Dance Group.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her brother Michael S. Helay (Danielle) and many friends.
