Thomas A. Harvey Thomas Albert Harvey, 71, of Springfield, formerly of Coffeen died at 10:40 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 1, 1914, in Coffeen, the son of Thomas and Katie Murphy Harvey. He married Joan Surgen in 1940, and she preceded him in death. He married Alberta Gillock in 1970. Four sisters and two brothers also preceded him in death.

Mr. Harvey was a retired mechanic, having been employed by Capitol Machinery in Springfield for 35 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 916, and VFW Post 755. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Alberta; two sons, John Hermes and Charles Hermes, both of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Carlo (Janice) Catalano of Springfield and Mrs. Guy E. (Jean) Jones of Centralia; one sister, Mary Gansner of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Coffeen, with the Rev. George Morelock officiating. Burial will be in St.

John's Cemetery, Coffeen.

Bass Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements.
