John Hardin Kirkland married Rhoda Emaline Lindley in Montgomery, Illinois on September 7, 1881. Family and cemetery records indicate that Rhoda is also interned at Greenwood Cemetery, however her headstone has not been located. They had two sons, William C Kirkland (Lulu Myers), 1885-1929, and Ernest T Kirkland (Eva Mae Coberly), 1888-1947, who are also buried in Macon County. Their son William had two children, Frances Kirkland Wright (H Walter) and Ernest Orville. Their Granddaughter, Margaret Kirkland (Ernest & Eva) died at birth on 21 Feb 1923. John and Rhoda also had two Great-Grandchildren, David W Wright (Lillian Petruzzi) and Barbara Wright Cole (Harold), both deceased. Surving are eight Great Great-Grandchildren (of whom I am the fourth) and seven Great Great Great-Grandchildren.

Special thanks go to janet donner for her hard work, research, photography, and generosity in her efforts to help a stranger who lives a thousand miles away find her roots.
