He was the husband of Judith C. (Laakko) Joyce for 37 years.
Born in Boston, he was the son of Grace (Buckley) of Needham and the late Martin Joyce.
Mr. Joyce graduated from Needham High School in 1966 and from Boston College in 1970. He received a master's degree at Indiana State University. He did doctoral studies in experimental psychology at State University of New York at Stony Brook. He worked in market research at Crayola of Easton, Pa.
In addition to his wife and mother, he he leaves a son, Eric Christopher Joyce of Chester, N.J.; a daughter, Victoria Kristin Joyce of Queens, N.Y.; a sister, Deborah Joyce of Chelmsford; four brothers, Ted Joyce of Brooklyn, N.Y., Bradford Joyce of Needham, Dennison Joyce of Brooklyn and Geoffrey Joyce of Santa Monica, Calif.; his father- and mother-in-law, Walter and Mildred Laakko of Worcester; many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common, on Monday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, South Natick.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are Sunday, Sept. 30, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Instead of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
