John Akel, 70, of Sherwood passed away, Friday, September 28, 2007. He was born January 27, 1937 in Ramallh, Palestine. John came to the United States when he was 16 years old, graduated from North Little High School in 1956. He was a Korean War veteran and self-employed for 40 years in the grocery business. He was born to the late Mike and Nejmeh Akel.
He was the husband of Brenda Akel for 45 years; father of Arkey Akel married to Sherry Akel, grandfather, to their children Ashley and Jonathan Akel. Also, father to a daughter, Lashan Akel. He is survived by two sisters, Suad Bateh and husband Jack, Lima Cambell and husband Floyd all of Jacksonville, Florida and a host of relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Nejmeh Akel; brother, Shawki Akel.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a. m., Monday, October 1, 2007 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 30, 2007, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home
