The expected birth of Katelyn was such a joyous occasion. She was born into a family of love. She was just perfect when she was delivered, she weighed 7 lbs. 7 oz. Everything was fine for the time being, she grew and smiled and was beginning to hold her head up. Then when she turned about 3 months old she began to cry all the time. We took her to the doctor and she did everything she could to find out was wrong with Katelyn. We changed her formula and that didn't seem to help anything. Then one night she had a little rattle in her chest and her toes began to twitch, so we took her to the hospital. They gave her a breathing treatment and said the toe thing was just a nervous young mother.

By the time Katelyn was 4 months old we brought her back again to the doctor. She was crying more than ever now, you couldn't hold her the right way or even pick her up without her crying. We knew she was hurting for some reason and needed to get her help. They did X-Rays to see if something was broke, and there wasn't, everything was fine. She was admitted into the hospital in December for observation. They saw how the crying was non-stop and how she hardly slept at all. They sent her for an EEG, MRI, Lab Work, C-Scan. Still nothing showed up except for they said she needed glasses.

We couldn't accept that for an answer. She was now 5 months old and had no motor skills to speak of, we knew something was wrong with our precious little girl. We brought her to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston in January of 2006. She was now 6 months old and wasn't doing good at all, she was so tired from lack of sleep, and we knew that something had to be done for the pain she was in. She stayed there for 8 days and she was put through the ringer with tests again. They repeated about everything she had already had done to her and did a spinal tap. When the MRI results came back the doctors came in and said they thought they knew what was wrong with Katelyn. KRABBES.. We had never heard that word before so we asked, what is that and what can be done to help Katelyn? The Doctor just hung her head to the floor and said, "If it were my child I would pray to the Lord that she doesn't have it." We completely fell apart when we got the answer. Our precious little girl was all that we could think. This was so cruel... No cure, that had to be wrong, they had to find something else wrong, not this disease they were telling us about. Not this disease that they said would take our precious Katelyn from us possibly before she turned two years old. Please pray for a "Miracle" for our little Katelyn.

"Little Angels"
Author Unknown

When God calls little children to dwell with Him above,
We mortals sometime question the wisdom of His love.
For no heartache compares with the death of one small child,
Who does so much to make our world seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to his fold,
So he picks a rosebud, before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them, and so He takes but few
To make the land of Heaven more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult, still somehow we must try.
The saddest word mankind knows will always be "goodbye."
So when a little child departs, we who are left behind,
Must realize God loves children, Angels are hard to find.
