George Ray Armstrong, 64, 614 Wheeler Ave., South Beloit, died at Rockford Memorial Hospital Saturday morning.
He was born May 29, 1916 in Shirland the son of Everett and Florence Blackmer. He married Margaret Ansley on August 19, 1939 in Dubuque, Iowa.
He was employed by the Erickson Construction Co. of Rockford until his retirement in 1978, and was a member of the Beloit Moose Lodge No. 191 and the Carpenter's Union Rockford Local 792.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters; Sue (Mrs. Cary) Anderson of Rockton, and Barbara (Mrs. Boyd) Hager, of Loves Park; three grandhildren; his mother; Mrs. Florence Brenner, of Durand; one sister; Marjory (Mrs. Andrew) Funk, of Rockton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, stepfather, two sons, and one brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer Blackhawk Chapel with the Rev. Andrew Hegre officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Cemtery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday.
