Retha was married to Jack O'Neal Crowther on October 21, 1952 in Clovis, New Mexico, after meeting in Plainview. After Jack's service in the US Air Force, they moved to Shallowater, Texas in 1956. She and Jack helped reestablish Boy Scouts Pack 515 in the 50s and 60s. She worked in Lubbock, Texas for Gibson Plumbing, Honeywell Inc. for 20 years, and Children's Connections for 10 years. She was a member of Shallowater Methodist Women and Shallowater Meals on Wheels. She had a passion for family, friends and community.
She is survived by her son, Lynn Crowther; daughter, Debra Fairchild; grandson, David; granddaughters Katrina and Amy; four great-grandchildren, Devry, Daylen, Grant, and Bethany; a sister, Beverly McWhorter; and close dear friend Elizabeth Jo Cross. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gary Provence, Sr., her husband Jack and son Carl in 1971; and close dear friend Madine Fairbairn.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm, Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Shallowater First United Methodist Church, 809 Texas Ave., Shallowater, Texas. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, Lubbock, Texas. A time of visitation for immediate family will be held at 10am, followed by a public visitation from 11am till service time, both at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Shallowater Methodist Church Chime Maintenance Fund.
