Ruth Adkins 101 of Spencer passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at the home of her granddaughter near Whitehall, Indiana. Born January 17. 1906, in Owen County, she was the daughter of Charles and Roberta "Bertie" (Dickie) Livingston. She married Raymond E. Adkins on March 23, 1924. To this union were born their daughters, Mildred J. Carpenter, deceased, and Peggy J Lewis of Spencer and their son, Charles E. Adkins of Whitehall. She was a homemaker, and a devoted member of White River Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Owen County. She traveled to several states with Elder Adkins after he was ordained and as he served churches in the states of Indiana and Illinois. She was much beloved by her family and all who knew her. Ruth is survived by her daughter Peggy (Lester) Lewis of Spencer son Charles "Ed" (Violet) Adkins of Whitehall, 13 grandchildren and spouses 33 great grandchildren and spouses, 63 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 74 years, Elder Raymond E. Adkins in 1998 her daughter Mildred Carpenter (Gene) in 1984, two sisters Mary Johnson, Alma Brinson, and three brothers, Lawrence Livingston, George Livingston, and William Livingston. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2007 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home with Elders Edward Fewell, James Clemmer, Ernest Loveday and Todd Durnil officiating. Burial will follow in Gross Cemetery.
