Daniel Wayne Vacek, 70, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 in Wylie. He was born September 15, 1950 in Weimar to Steve and Mary (Mensik) Vacek. He grew up in Rosenberg and attended Holy Rosary Catholic School then went on to graduate from Lamar Consolidated in 1968 where he excelled in Band. Dan continued his love of music by studying Music Education at Texas A&I, Kingsville. Dan retired as an investigator from the Texas Attorney General's office and is also an Army National Guard paratrooper retiree. He loved motorcycles and trips with fellow Gold Wing motorcyclists visiting many sites not only in Texas but several other states. He also enjoyed shooting at the gun range and spending time with family.


Dan is survived by his children, Richard Vacek, Grace Salcido, and Lisa Vacek. Also surviving are brothers, John Vacek and wife, Laneva, James Vacek; and sister, Theresa Dixon and husband, Joel; along with grandchildren, Anthony Torrez, Jordan Paez, Mathew Vacek, Cody Vacek, Megan Vacek, Mia Salcido, Manuel Jimmy Salcido; and five great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, and step-father, Edward S. Vacek


Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral home, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, November 5, 2020, from 4-8 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M.
