Donald Paul Johanningsmeier, 90, of Sandborn, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 24, 2020.

Donald was born on January 13, 1930, in Makoti, North Dakota, to the late Paul H. and Susie Etter Johanningsmeier.

Donald was a devoted member of Bethel Church; he was a family man who was a self-employed farmer, carpenter, and manager of S&W Telephone Company. Donald was also a member of Sandborn Lyons Club, a former volunteer fireman, served as a town councilman on the Sandborn town board, and served his country as a member of the United States Army in the Korean Conflict. He went on numerous mission trips across the United States with the Active Baptist Campers and to several other countries. Memorial contributions may be made in Don's memory to Habitat for Humanity or Bethel Church.

Donald is survived by his son, Wayne A. Johanningsmeier (Beth) of Floyds Knobs; a daughter, Belinda G. Sanders (Steve) of Sandborn; 6 grandchildren, Brian Sanders (Erin), Kelli Thoele (Carl), Craig Sanders (Jenna), Scott Johanningsmeier (Jennifer), Susan Smith (Ben), and Lisa Johanningsmeier; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kara L. Stewart Johanningsmeier; parents; 2 sisters, Marian Thompson and Alma Sturgeon.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 29, 2020, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Bethel Church, 13673 E. State Rd 58, Edwardsport, IN 47528, with a funeral service at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 30, 2020, also at the church. Burial will follow in Sandborn Cemetery.
