He had been a 911 dispatcher for the City of Hickman for twenty years. Clentis was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War in which he served two tours of duty and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy to further serve his country. Clentis was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Cordova, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Lola Turnbow and two brothers, James Turnbow and Bill Turnbow.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Morgan) Turnbow of Cordova, TN, daughters, Rhonda(Kelly Hilts) Wallen and Yvonne Nisley all of Cordova and 3 grandsons, Jacob Oliphant of Cordova, Dillon and Colin Nisley both of Riverview, FL
