Born January 2, 1947 in Oakvale. He was the son of the late Arvin Akers and Millie Thomas Akers.
Raymond was a resident of Oakvale until he left to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, where he earned three bronze stars. He was an active member of the DAV Chapter #27, Concord, NC.
In addition to his Parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Paul, Charles, and Jerry "Gravy" Akers
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Debbie Akers. Stepchildren Michael Carroll, Jennifer Gresham, and James Gresham. Grandchildren Daisy Gresham, Elijah Gresham His sister Brenda Aker and husband John as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Raymond Akers will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 22, 2020 from Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale. Burial will follow in the Oakvale Cemetery with the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard conducting Military Graveside Rites Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
