Sarah Miranda Whitaker was born on 19 November, 1838, in Bracken County, Kentucky, to Alfred and Sarah Ann French Whitaker. She married Israel Hagan Mullinix on 5 April, 1860 in Missouri. To this union 9 known children were born; Sarah Jane, 1861; Mary Phenia, 1862; Fannie, 1863;
Miranda Emmaline, 1864; Alfred, 1867; Ellen, 1869; Maggie Belle, 1872; Israel Hagen, 1875; and Anna in 1877.
Miranda passed away 9 July, 1921 in Harrison County, Missouri, and is buried in Morris Chapel Cemetery, Bethany, Harrison County.

The spelling of the Mullinix name differs with the speller, even some of the individuals changed the spelling. At times it is Mulnix, Mullenix, Mullinex, Mullinix or Mullineaux.
