Myrle Neal Fortner, 87, of 4354 Kentucky 142, Philpot formerly of Livermore, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Virginia Myrle Shocklee was born September 14, 1920, in McLean County to the late John Givens & Mary Mackey Shocklee, was married to Hardwick Neal until his death in 1968 and was then married to Atlas Fortner until his death in 1979. Myrle retired from the General Electric Co. after 30 years of service, was a member of the Richland Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 40 years, and was a volunteer at OMHS. In addition to her parents and her husbands, Myrle was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Earl Calloway; an infant sister, Kitty Jean Shocklee; a brother, Samuel Givens Shocklee; and a half brother, Randall Earl Shocklee. Survivors include a son, Harold Neal of Guntersville, AL; two daughters and their husbands, Ida & James Eiland and Margery & Jim Davis, all of Philpot; eight grandchildren, Jim Davis II of Owensboro, Sonya Moseley & her husband, Bill, of Fort Thomas, Shelley Davis of Louisville, Regina Lankford & her husband, Rick, of Guntersville, Nathan Neal & his wife, Briana, of Arab, AL, Jack Neal & his wife, Tereasa, of Deer Park, TX, Mike Harkness & his wife, Marina, of Tampa, FL, and Debra Raby of Ashville, AL; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Wimp of Owensboro; two half brothers and their wives, Charles & Rita Shocklee and John & Rickie Shocklee, all of McLean County; and a half sister and her husband, Mary Evelyn & Carroll Nave of Masonville. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel, with the Rev. Glenn Archer and the Rev. Larry Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Livermore. Friends may visit with Myrle's family from 4-8 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Myrle's family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Richland Baptist Church building fund. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Muster's in Livermore.
