My Dad, my hero. Senior Chief Petty Officer Roger W. Leigh, USN, Retired, was born in Denver, Colorado on 12 December, 1942. He grew up in Denver and attended Denver East High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 and served his country honorably for twenty years, including two tours in Vietnam, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He retired to Grand Junction, Colorado and spent the next twenty five years working as an employee for the U.S. Department of Energy. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Maureen Smith of London, England, sons Captain Gary Leigh, USN and Wayne D. Leigh, daughters Samantha (Schwarz), Amanda (Zoller) and Michelle Leigh, 14 Grand Children who miss their "Popeye", and a brother, William, who resides in California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Rachel (Surber) Leigh, a brother, Chief Petty Officer Ron "Sonny" Leigh, USN, Retired and a sister, Marilyn (Brunner)Leigh. He loved his family, his country, the U.S. Navy, the outdoors, and the Denver Broncos. He is truly loved, greatly admired and is sorely missed by his loving family. My heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Julie for sponsoring my Dad's site.
