While working at the Silverado Home for seniors with dementia and Alzheimer's, I met this wonderful gentleman in the late stages of his disease. Larry was a very kind, polite, funny individual whom I considered my 'adopted' grandfather. I nurtured this kind soul during the four months I worked there as a recreation assistant; feeding him dinner along side his CNA, tucking him into bed, and wishing him goodnight before I left for the evening. He was my favorite resident, and he touched my heart.

My Dearest Larry,

Though you do not remember me, I am at peace knowing you were taken care of before you died. I am so glad I was able to know you in my life, even if it was only for a short while. Please wait for me in Heaven dearest child of our Lord.

Lawrence "Larry" Evan Frase, 80, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2014, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Larry was born October 23, 1934, in Norfolk Virginia. He attended Granby High School and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. After graduation, he was admitted to Virginia Military Institute where he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1956. There he met the love of his life, Ann Todd, of San Antonio, Texas; they married on October 12, 1956. Larry served three years active duty in the U.S. Air Force in Strategic Air Command at Barksdale AFB, achieving the rank of Captain. After discharge, he received a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering at Georgia Tech in 1960. The family moved to Dallas where he began his long career as an engineer, first at Collins Radio, then Texas Instruments, and finally Bell Helicopter, where he retired in 1997. While working full time, he earned an MBA at The University of Dallas in 1979. Larry and Ann raised their children in the Park Cities where Larry was a merit badge instructor with BSA Troop 82. He had a lifelong love of electronics. He was a ham radio enthusiast since the 1940s and built personal computers for his children. In retirement, Larry served as an Adjunct Professor at SMU teaching freshman computer courses. In 1986, Larry and Ann moved to Keller, Texas, where they enjoyed working their small ranch, raising quarter horses and "two goat girls" and tending their large garden. Larry told friends that he knew it was finally time to move back to Dallas when his to-do list included "fix the barn." The couple returned to North Dallas in 1995. Larry was a devoted husband and father, known for his wry sense of humor and gifted storytelling. He was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, where he volunteered as a funeral usher and was an active member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew men's ministry. He concurrently volunteered at North Dallas Shared Ministries and Habitat for Humanity. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Al Frase and Ruth Hunter Frase, and his granddaughter Rachel Laura Blunt. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Frase; daughters Laura Ann Frase and Martha Jean Frase; son David Evan Frase; daughter-in-law Gina Wild Frase; and grandchildren Hunter Evan Frase, Haley Ann Blunt and Eva Margaret Frase. The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Michael and All Angels Chapel, 8011 Douglas Ave., Dallas 75225. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Brotherhood of St. Andrew at St. Michael, North Dallas Shared Ministries, 2875 Merrell Rd., Dallas 75229 or a charity of your choice.
