Frances Anne Guerrant Adams, age 78, died in her sleep Saturday morning July 25, 2020.

Francis was born to William Clifford and Audrey Bay Guerrant February 18, 1942 in Huntsville TX. Her devotion to family began early in life living with her parents and two grandmothers in a home that eventually became the location of the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce.

In recent years Frances would walk the grounds with family members and point out locations where her childhood pets were buried and tell stories of her grandmother slipping into Town Creek and offering a little boy some change to help her climb out.

During her childhood Frances and "brother" Pete Kay spent many an hour running the fields at the Guerrant family ranch on Bishop road.

Her love for music came early in life as she would walk up the road to the what is now the historic Gibbs-Powell house museum to take piano lessons from Mrs. Louise Powell. During her last days the phrase of "What would Mrs. Powell tell you to do?" still evoked a rapid response from Frances and brought a smile to her.

Frances also grew her devotion to service by spending her time at the family-run grocery on the Huntsville Courthouse square that eventually relocated and became Guerrant's Lucky 7 located at the site of what is now McDonald's on Sam Houston Avenue.

Her love for music grew during her youth from piano and eventually became her lifelong love of singing.

After graduating high school, her beautiful voice gave her an opportunity to go to Europe to further her study; but, after a chance encounter at the Houston Livestock show, she met Donald Adams and they married December 1, 1961 and begin a life-time journey of 59 years.

Frances and Don had two sons, Michael Dean Adams and Mark Clifford Adams.

Frances continued her education and graduated from Sam Houston State University not long after Mike was born.

During her college time, she was blessed with a scholarship from the FUMC Chancel Choir that began a life-long devotion to the Methodist church choir.

Her love for SHSU continued throughout her life, asking her son Mark for daily and often multiple daily updates of "Tell me all about Sam. What's going on? I just love Sam Houston."

As her love for music continued to grow Frances was recognized and welcomed into a trio of more seasoned FUMC Chancel Choir singers that became the Treble Aires and in the following 40+ years to come became a regular at Sunday morning worship services at many different churches, civic events, weddings, and memorial services. Her strong and beautiful alto voice would be shared by many over the four-decade period.

Frances continued her service to community and love for music by joining Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Huntsville and performing lead roles in H.M.S. Pinafore as Buttercup, Pirates of Penzance, and Yeomen of the Guard; along with numerous performances of the community presentations of Hee Haw where she made many new life-long friends.

Frances showed her love and appreciation for her choir and performing friends through numerous parties, BBQ events, and fellowship gatherings she would host at the Family Ranch on Bishop Road.

Her love for service and children eventually led her to serve on numerous organizations and give her time as a substitute teacher.

When her son Mark was in the Huntsville high school marching band, Frances joined the Band Boosters to help with fund raising and negotiating discounts so the band could travel in style on Greyhound buses rather than the "ole' yellow dog" buses.

During this time, Frances continued to grow her connection to the students, friends, and family of Huntsville with whom she connected.

Together, Francis and Don ran numerous businesses through their years, from assisting with the family Grocery and ranch to washeteria, real-estate, Adams-Koehl home building, established Pine Shadows Estates subdivision, Grenada Falls restaurant and shopping center, co-opened the Jolly Fox and eventually settled into Don's TV for a career in the electronics business, in which Francis helped with book keeping and public relations.

The work she did never took away from her love of camping and trips and summertime excursions to the Guadalupe River with family and close friends.
Frances will always be remembered for fun, simple warm laughter and love.

Frances was preceded in death by parents Clifford and Audrey Guerrant, brother James Guerrant and cousin George Edward "Pet" Kay along with many other deeply loved family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Donald Dean Adams of Huntsville; son Michael Dean Adams and wife, Kitna, of Decatur, grandchildren Ashley Adams, Austin Adams, Melissa Adams; son Mark Clifford Adams and wife, Missy, of Huntsville, granddaughter Melynda Tobias and husband, John, of North Zulch, great-grandchildren Addy and Collin Tobias.
