Leah L. Clark, age 6, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 unexpectedly.

Leah was a 1st grader at Wayland-Cohocton School. She was a happy, and very loved, child- she lit up every room she walked into. Leah loved her "babies" and kittens, she was a very good swimmer and couldn't wait to play on any tire swing she saw. She also had a deep passion for the Tooth Fairy and believed she was more magical than Santa!

Leah is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Elizabeth & Douglas Smith; and her maternal uncle, Charles Smith.

Leah is survived by her parents, Derek Clark & Maria Smith; paternal grandparents, Lisa (Steve Pasquali) Clark & Elmond (Sherry) Clark; her maternal aunt & uncle: Kristi (Jay) Longbine & Patrick (Amy) Mullen; her paternal aunts: Jessica (Garrett) Williams, Alicia Clark, Kasey (Leo) Bricks & Angie Freas; her paternal great-grandparents: Edward Jr. & Sandy Freas and Mary Clark; her cousins: Nathan Longbine, Gage Butters, Rayna Krise, Haylen Mullen, Ethan Clark, Kendra Barnhardt, Carter Chabot, Lexi Williams, & Lincoln Bricks; and many cousins & friends. The family would like to thank Mary Bricks, Melissa Bricks-Carney & Mike Bricks with their generosity in donating one of their family plots to Leah.

Family & friends are invited to call from 1pm – 4pm on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home (300 W. Naples Street, Wayland NY 14572). A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. While on funeral home property, the state requires that everyone wear a facial covering and that social distancing is maintained; we also ask that there be no congregating in the parking lot at any time for any reason. The family and funeral home appreciates your understanding and cooperation. Please follow floor markings upon entering the building and guidance from funeral home staff.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Golisano Children's Hospital online at (https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/childrens-hospital/ways-to-give/make-a-gift.aspx) or by mail at (P.O. Box 278996, Rochester, NY 14627) OR to the family c/o Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, (PO Box 336, Wayland NY 14572).

A poem I have on my sons memorial, shared here for when the pain is so fresh and cuts so deep, it's hard to speak the words from the depths of your heart & soul, for the loss you feel.

We are connected...my child and I...by an invisible cord...not seen by the eye...It's not like the cord that connects us 'till birth...this cord can't be seen by any on earth....This cord does its work...right from the start...It binds us together....attached to my heart...I know that it's there...though no one can see...the invisible cord from my child to me......The strength of this cord is hard to describe...It can't be destroyed...it can't be denied.....It's stronger than any cord man could create....It withstands the test...can hold any weight.....And though you are gone...though you are not here with me....This cord is still there...but no one can see......It pulls at my heart...I am bruised...I am sore....But this cord is my lifeline...as never before......I am thankful that God connects us this way....A mother and child....death can't take it away!
