Madeleine Elizabeth Fiedler was born on June 20, 1935 in rural Ottumwa, IA to Harold and Della "Marie" Denny Johnson. Her early years were spent in Ottumwa where she attended school and graduated with the Ottumwa High School Class of 1953. Upon graduation she began working at Woolworths in Ottumwa. On November 16, 1958 she married the love of her life, Robert Fiedler at the Selma United Methodist Church. They became loving parents to three children, Janet, Thomas, and John. With the additions to the family, Madeleine became a stay at home mom. As time passed and Robert's health began to decline, she lovingly accepted the role as full time caretaker. Madeleine said her final goodbye to Robert on January 6, 1994. With the children grown, she began working at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield where she retired as the Housekeeping Supervisor. After retirement Madeleine began her favorite full-time job, being a grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished her family and the time that they had together. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends she leaves behind.

Madeleine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Fiedler (1994), and one son, Thomas E. Fiedler (2020).

Left to share her story are her children, Janet (Dan) Pilcher of Ottumwa, IA and John (John) Fiedler of West Des Moines, IA; one daughter in law, Brenda Fiedler; six grandchildren, Jamie Fiedler, Bryan (Judy) Pilcher, Kevin Pilcher, Tara Pilcher; Monica (Saul) Garcia-Lopez; and Miranda (Josh) Gray; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Patricia Marts and Joanne (Donnie) Peirson, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
