Mrs. Susan Victoria Slusher, wife of Francis L. Slusher, passed away November 28, 1943, in Ronaoke. Born in Floyd County January 8, 1881, she was the daughter of Daniel R. and Mary Jane Conner. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Troutville, where she had made her home for a number of years. She was a good Christian woman in her home and wherever she went. Always ready to lend a helping hand, she was loved by all who knew her.

All that loving hands and skilled physicians and nurses could was done to save her, but the Lord saw best to take her home to rest.

She is survived by her husband, Francis L. Slusher, and the following children: Everett C. Slusher, Mrs. Walter Parrish, Mrs. Herman Goodman and Miss Janette Slusher of Bedford; M. K. Slusher and Roy Slusher of the U. S. Army; Curtis Slusher of Roanoke, and Mrs. Marvin Spradlin of Fincastle. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Jane Conner, and sister, Miss Bettie Ruth Conner of Meadows-of-Dan; two brothers, E. M. Conner of Bedford and James D. Conner of Troutville; and four grandchildren: Kathryn and Clarence Slusher, Julia Brown Parrish, and Kenneth Slusher, all of Bedford.

Funeral services were conducted at the Church of the Brethren at Troutville on Wednesday, December 1, at 11 o'clock by Rev. Mr. Kale of the Church of the Brethren and Rev. Mr. Barber of the Baptist Church. Interment was in the cemetery at Troutville. Active pallbearers were: Elmo Conner, Ellie Parrish, Lawrence Snead, Earnest Snead, C. E. Moore and Mr. Baldwin.
