Ransom Jones, son of Evan and Minerva Jones was born in Morrow County, Ohio near the town of Denmark, Feb. 15, 1865 and died at his home five miles north east of Keswick, May 13, 1931. When he was a lad, buth three years of age he came with his parents to Iowa. He grew to manhood in the vicinity northwest of Keswick. On March 29, 1894 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida Mae Bell at the home of her parents two and a half miles southwest of Keswick. For the first two years they farmed their parents farm. Then they removed up to the Springdale neighborhood north of Keswick where they remained until about 25 years ago when they purchased the farm about 2 miles west of White Pigeon which has remained with thier home since that time. Three children were born to them, all boys. One died in infancy. The others are Frank E , living on an adjoining farm and Merle L. who is and instructor in the high school at Pomeroy, IA. Mr. Jones is survived also by his widow, five grandchildren, and one brother Lorenzo, of Keswick and two sisters, Mrs. Ivan Snodgrass of Keswick and Mrs. Jake Hubbell of Wellman. In his young manhood Mr. Jones joined the Methodist Church. About 12 years ago the Methodist and Christian churches consolidated and at that time he became a member of the White Pigeon Church of christ. He and his good wife had been very active members in the congregation ever since. Mr. Jones last illness culminating in pneumonia began about last Christmas. He had been confined to his bed only about two weeks. Mr. Jones was held in highest esteem by all who knew him. The funeral was conducted from the White Pigeon Church on friday, May 15 with Rev. W. Fillmore preaching. The burial was in the cemetery southwest of Keswick in the neighborhood of his youthful dwelling place.
