Burial was made in Pleasant Gift Cemetery in Morton. Adams was born May 26, 1894 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Dave Adams in Scott County.
He united with the Long Pine M. B. Church at an early age and later joined the Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church. He served as chairman of the Deacon Board until his death.
Adams died August 14, 1979 at Rankin General Hospital after an extended illness. Two daughters preceded him in death.
Adams is survived by his wife, Bunia Adams, of Morton; four daughters, Mrs. Mariah Owens, Harvey, Illinois; Mrs. Ruby Powell, Los Angeles; Mrs. Josie Harvey, Indianapolis; and Mrs. Ethel Taylor, Morton; seven sons, Rufus Adams, Harvey, Illinois; Jim Hollis, Morton; James Lacy, George Lacy, John Lacy, all of Indianapolis; Larry Adams, Brandon; Rev. Edward Lacy, Morton; 30 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Von Adams, Eartis Jean Adams, Clifton Owens, James Lacy, John Lacy, and George Lacy.
