She retired from McMinn County High School after 30-plus years of teaching. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lee Sutherland and Jessie Mae Sutherland.

Jr., of Cleveland; two nephews, Steve Ferguson, and wife, Shantelle, and Mitchell Ferguson, all of Cleveland; two great-nephews, Tyler and Austin King of Cleveland; and a special neighbor, Frances Ruggles of Athens.
