Singer. Luis Carlos Meyer Castandet was a Colombian singer of rhythms from the Caribbean Coast such as porro and cumbia. He started as a singer in the mid-1930s, but his first recordings were after World War II, including "Poquitico poquitico," "Se va el caimán," "Ungrata mujer," "Vivan los novios" and "Santa Marta." In 1943 he settled in Mexico, where he is considered the man who introduced the Colombian cumbia that gave rise to the Mexican cumbia. In Mexico he recorded with the Rafael de Paz orchestra, and participated in Mexican cinema. La Sonora Matancera recorded her song "Micaela" for the first time in 1944. At that time his greatest hits were heard in Latin America including "La puerca", "El hijo de mi mujer," "El gallo tuerto," "La cumbia cienaguera," "La historia," "La vallenata" and others.
