Barney (Julius B.) Pelletier, 81, of Warren, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007.
Mr. Pelletier retired as a tool and die maker from Chrysler Corp. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS San Saba. He was a member of the St. Clement Catholic Church Ushers and Dad's Club, the North-South Skirmish Association (8th Michigan Calvary Civil War Club) and was active in several metropolitan Detroit wood carving clubs.

He was active for 44 years with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a scoutmaster, merit badge councilor, a Trail to Eagle staff volunteer, and Order of the Arrow member. He received the Wood Badge, Silver Beaver and St. George's awards. In retirement, he and his wife, Vera, were avid campers, travelers and active in wood carving.

Mr. Pelletier is survived by his son, Michael (Cheryl) Pelletier of Lake Orion; daughter, Michele (David) Kidder of West Lafayette, Ind.; grandchildren, Nicole, Jesse, Jenelle, and Rochelle Pelletier, and David (Jennifer) and Shavon Tindall; step-grandchildren, Erica Solak and Sara Toney; and great-grandchildren, Elorah, Asher, Madison, Grace and Hannah.

He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Vera; and granddaughter, Sarah Tindall.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Clement Catholic Church, 25320 Van Dyke (north of 10 Mile), Center Line. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.

Visitation is 1-7 p.m. Monday and 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 E. 15 Mile (at Schoenherr), Sterling Heights. Additional visitation is 9:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
