Death came unexpectedly late Saturday, at his home at 286 West Marine drive to Jack Aho 78, a resident of this area for about 55 years. He had had a heart ailment for several years and had been more seriously ill for three weeks during which he was hospitalized for a shout time. Aho was born April 15, 1888, in Alajarvi, Finland from where he left in his late teens to sail on Finnish ships. He settled as a young man in Michigan where he was employed in cooper mines and from there came to Clatskanie, working at logging. About 1912, Aho came to Astoria where he worked first at the former Hammond Lumber company mill and then was for many years a longshorman. He had in more recent years done considerable contract construction work in logging and bridge building until his retirement. Aho was married in Astoria Oct 14 1916 to Helmi Maria Waltonen. They lived in Astoria until 1920when they moved to Svensen. Mrs. Aho died in 1956 and Aho moved the following yearback to Astoria where he had since lived. He was a longtime member of the Finnish Brotherhood Lodge and had for many been sexton of the lodge's Svensen cemetery.Surviving are six sons and four daughters, Toivo Waltonen, Marshall, Arvoand Tauno Aho, all of Rt 2; Robert Aho Tillamook, and Jack Aho, Jr., San Jose Calif. , Miss Eleanor Aho, Astoria ; Mrs. Helen Price, San Diego, Calif. 19 grandchildren and six grant grandchildren. Services will be Wendesday, February 22 1967 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hughes Ranson Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Toivo Hakkinen pastor of Zion Lutheran church, officating. Burial to Svensen cemetery, Finnish brotherhood Lodge participating. Serving as casket bearers will be the sons, Toivo Waltonen, Robert Aho, Marshall Aho, Arvo Aho, Tauno Aho and Jack Aho, Jr. Daily Astoria dated February 20, 1967
