Vivian Ida Stanger Secoy Dyer, 82, of Davenport, died Friday, August 10, 2007, at the Davenport Lutheran Home. Vivian was born August 28, 1924, at home in Rockingham Township, Davenport. She was the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Spillman) Stanger. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Secoy September 14, 1940; together they had a daughter, Gloria Jean Secoy. Charles was killed later in World War II. She then married Robert H., Dyer August 20, 1949, and moved to Telegraph Road in West Davenport. Together, they had two sons, Robert S. and Gary A. Dyer. Vivian worked for the Davenport Public Schools, working as a matron at Central High School until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening and yard work. She loved to go fishing, but most of all, she enjoyed having her family around her. Those left to honor her memory include daughter, Gloria J. Urmie; sons, Robert S. and Gary A. Dyer; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Leila Schmidt; and a sister-in-law, Norma Kiely. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Charles Secoy, second husband, Robert H. Dyer, and a son-in-law, David Urmie, two brothers, Clyde and Forrest Harris, and a sister, Goldie Moe.
