Lawrence A. "Larry" Durand, 80, Reedsburg, died on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in the Edward Snyder Nursing Home in Reedsburg.

Larry, the son of J. Elzear and Eva (Dufresne) Durand, was born on Aug. 10, 1919, in Spooner.

He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame in the School of Arts and Letters.

He married Mary Ann Murphy on Feb. 11, 1956, in Chippewa Falls.

He taught secondary school for nine years and was involved in radio sales and announcing, which took him to Sauk County as an assistant manager at Reedsburg radio station WRDB. He also worked in insurance sales for many years and was a proprietor of his own retail store in Reedsburg for 25 years.Larry was secretary of the Reedsburg Chamber of Commerce for nine years and served on the Reedsburg United Fund Board of Directors. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg and a member of the Reedsburg Knights of Columbus. He was also involved as a member of the Baraboo Theatre Guild and the Reedsburg Area Toastmasters.

Larry is survived by his two children, five grandchildren, one brother, three sisters, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, on Feb. 14, 1999, and by his parents.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg. Father Donald Wiecki officiated.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg, where a parish scripture service was held at 7:30 p.m
