Loyd Caldwell was born in Mendon, Michigan on March 5, 1882 to Wallace Milton Caldwell and Olive (Barnebee) Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell grew up in Detroit and Kalamazoo MI and was married to Rachel Fletcher on Aug. 25, 1917 in Detroit. Loyd was a court stenographer in Kalamazoo, Michigan at this time. Loyd's wife Rachel passed away soon after the birth of their second daughter in 1923. In 1930 Loyd and his two daughters Virginia and Louisa moved to Riverside, California where Loyd also became employed at the Riverside Courthouse and continued with transcription and stenography work. Loyd lived in Riverside for the remainder of his life.

Grave was located, but no separate headstone exists for Loyd Caldwell as of June, 2011. Same plot as used by his daughters, Virginia (Caldwell) House, Louisa Caldwell & son-in-law, Gordon House. All interments in this plot are cremations.
