Gerta "Gerti" and her father Herbert were murdered during the Holocaust. They lived in Olomouc, Czechoslovakia; Gerti's mother had died when she was younger, so she was being raised alone by her father. They were deported first to Theresienstadt, where they lived for a year, then to Auschwitz. Gerti was murdered on arrival.
