Fayette C. & Alcy J. (Hoadley) Johnson sold their farming and business interests in Berkshire, VT shortly after the birth of their son, Harlow, in 1875, removing to Ascot, QC to join the Johnson relatives who had settled previously in the area. Fayette joined with his brother Homer in several ventures, including two large dairy farms and several saw mills. Eventually, they founded Johnson Brothers Meat-Packing Company, which became a highly successful venture, being supplied with stock from their own farms.
