Thomas James Colombe, Jr. 74, of Winner, SD passed away Thursday, August 9, 2007 at the Winner Regional Nursing Home.

Thomas was born on July 29, 1933. He lived and worked on his families Ranch in the Hidden Timber Area with his father and mother- Thomas Sr. and Louise Colombe. Also special Uncle Volley Herman.

Thomas attended rural country school at Jefferson School, Hidden Timber area. He then attended High School at Winner, SD where he graduated in 1952.

After graduating Thomas joined the 730th Medical National Guard Unit from Winner, SD where he served from 1952 thru 1963.

He was married on June 14, 1958 to Alice Bravek. They had two sons Lloyd James and Michael Shane. He remained in the Hidden Timber Area until 1967 when he moved to Winner.

He worked for Winner Welding and did some construction work in the Witten area until 1968. He then went to work at Mathis Implement for seven years.

Thomas was also remarried to Shirley Lloyd on July 1969 and had four step-children.

Thomas started his own Portable Welding business in 1975, which he enjoyed very much until 1991 when he retired.

He moved to Hot Springs in January 1992, where he remained until December 2006. While in Hot Springs he worked for the City of Hot Springs. He became a patient at Winner Regional Nursing Home in December 2006 until his passing on August 9, 2007.

Thomas loved to be in his garden when he could. He enjoyed making leather crafts, wood working, and working in the shop welding and building things until his health forced him to quit. He also enjoyed his sons and grandchildren and visiting with all his friends.

Thomas is survived by his son Lloyd James and Grandson Tanner, son Michael Shane (Leota) and grandson Shane and granddaughter Jessica Colombe. Also two great-granddaughters, Macy and Ashleigh.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Uncle Volley, and his second wife Shirley.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner. Burial will be in the Winner Cemetery.
