Richard Nelson "Ricky" Hooker, 60 years 5 months and 6 days of age, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, departed this life at 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020 at the University of Louisville Hospital from injuries he received during an automobile accident involving a garbage truck.
Ricky was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana on Monday, December 28th, 1959, son of the late James Cleo Hooker and Daisey Ellen Hooker-Carlile. Ricky loved his wife, Becky, dearly, and his family was his pride and joy. He also enjoyed time spent with his faithful pets. Ricky enjoyed the outdoors, planting flowers and tomatoes were just a few of the things he liked to grow. He was a friend to everyone he knew and would always greet you with a hug. Ricky was always willing to pitch in and help his family and friends with whatever kind of projects they were working on.
Ricky was survived by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Hooker; five children, Tonya (and Jeffery) Wilson, Holly (and Andrew) Atack, James Hooker (and Jessica Williamson), Ryan (and Shamron) Stewart, and Rachel (and Armando) Ortiz; seventeen grandchildren, Jason Emerick, Korinthian Patrick, Drake Emerick, Kamrin Wilson, Mathew Douglass, Caitlin Douglass, Emilie Atack, Oliver Atack, Dannon Hooker, Laurel Hooker, Aiden Stewart, Todd Stewart, Kristopher Ortiz, Jovanny Ortiz, Ximena Ortiz, Ellie Ortiz, and Lydia Ortiz; two great-grandchildren, Daniel Patrick and Iris Emerick; his beloved dog, Pawz; and a host of extended family members and friends who mourn his passing, especially his cousin, Andy Hooker.
Ricky was preceded in death by father, Cleo Hooker, who departed this life on January 27th, 1970; his mother, Daisey Hooker-Carlile, who departed this life on March 4th, 2016; one sister, Deborah Cleo "Debbie" Hooker Smith, who also departed this life on March 4th, 2016; and one brother, James "Steve" Hooker, who departed this life on August 3rd, 1984.
Visitations were held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5th, 2020 at One Community Church in Clarksville, Indiana.
Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5th, 2020 at One Community Church.
